Our movement for climate justice isn't just about reducing pollution, it's also about ensuring our communities are safe, resourced and resilient. As New Yorkers, we aren’t strangers to the many faces of the current climate reality: rising grocery prices, emergency evacuations from floods and other extreme weather, and massive unmet repairs for homes, mass transit, roads and other public infrastructure. These are all connected to climate and affordability crises, but there are strong solutions on the table this legislative session and we're organizing for our state representatives to fund them.
With only weeks left before the state budget is finalized, can you join us by emailing your state legislator to include Fund Climate campaign priorities in the this year's budget?
Governor Hochul outlined affordability, health, and public safety as key pillars of her 2025–2026 agenda, but she not only failed to connect these issues to the accelerating climate crisis, she has been delaying action on the Cap-and-Invest program, which if done right, could significantly reduce toxic pollution and generate billions in climate investments by holding corporate polluters financially accountable. Without action to meet our State’s Climate Law, the Governor derails a safe, affordable, clean energy future for all New Yorkers.
Delayed climate action is not just a political misstep; it puts lives and communities at risk. Can you email your state legislator to urge them to Fund Climate in the state budget and to advance New York's cap-and-invest program with equity and justice?
